TRANSFERS

Transfer Policies

As a service to our customers, The Armories will happily handle the transfer of a firearm on your behalf from individuals or dealers alike! If you have a family heirloom that you need shipped in from out of state, a collectible that rounds out your collection, or you came across a great deal on a new firearm, our staff will assist you to facilitate the transaction in a professional and timely manner. Our transfer policies are below. Please feel free to give us a call if you have any additional questions. Per Florida Law, there is A 3 business day wait on all firearms (unless you meet certain exemption criteria). Your wait begins once we have received your firearm, and you subsequently visit our store to pay the transfer fee and fill out the Federal Form 4473. Transfer is contingent on background check approval.

Transferring a firearm from a dealer

Please request that the dealer enclose a copy of their current FFL (Federal Firearms License) along with your name and phone number so we may contact you once your firearm arrives. We know it is exciting to get a new gun, however, there is a process we must follow before you can pick up your firearm. We will call you once your firearm has been received into our ATF Electronic Inventory System. This takes place within 1 business day of receipt of your firearm. During busy times this may take a little longer. Please understand that we have hundreds of guns to process each week and our staff works diligently to ensure that each one is received in a timely manner while staying in compliance with all State and Federal regulations.

If you are receiving accessories or ammunition with your firearm, please request that the dealer send non-serialized items directly to your home. We are unable to inventory and keep track of non-serialized items that are not invoiced directly to our company. Additional fees may be charged for additional packages that are not in the box with your firearm.

Transferring a firearm from an individual or dealer

Despite common belief, Federal law DOES allow an individual to ship a firearm through common carrier, as long as the receiving party has a valid FFL. The individual shipping the firearm should enclose a copy of their State Photo Identification along with the purchaser's name and phone number. We are unable to send a copy of our FFL to anyone other than other Federally Licensed Dealers. If the individual selling you the item needs to confirm the validity of our FFL , they may do so by visiting https://www.atfonline.gov/fflezcheck/ - They will need to call the store location they intend to ship the item to and ask for the first 3 and last 5 digits of our FFL.

Pricing

The cost for these transfers is $50. This fee includes the FDLE background check required on all firearm transfers. Please note; firearms must be picked up within 30 days of receipt. After the initial 30 days, an additional $45 storage fee will be added to the price of the transfer fee. After 90 days, the item(s) will be considered abandoned and become property of The Armories.

Outgoing Transfers

As a Federally Licensed Dealer, we are only able to ship firearms to other Federally Licensed Dealers. Once we have received payment for your item, we will need to find a dealer to ship it to. If you have a preferred dealer, please contact us with their phone number so we may exchange licenses with them or, email their license to FFL@thearmories.com. We will be happy to locate a dealer to receive your transfer as well. We will be happy to assist you with the following:

Transfer a firearm between individuals (Private Sale)
Send out a firearm for gunsmith work or customization
Send off for warranty repair

Outgoing transfer fee is $50 per firearm plus shipping*

We utilize FedEx for shipping. FedEx requires next-day service to ship handguns, long guns may be shipped ground. Prices vary depending on the part of the country it is being shipped to, amount of insurance you would like on the item, and size of the firearm. We will need all of this information in order to quote you accurate shipping costs.

*Firearms purchased at one of The Armories location and require shipment for warranty repair are not subject to the $45 transfer fee. Shipping charges may be incurred.

NFA Items

THE ARMORIES charges a non-refundable transfer fee for items not purchased from us depending on the class of that item. There is no transfer fee for items purchased through Silencer Shop and the customer use us as the transferring dealer. There is also a convenience fee associated with using the SS kiosk for customers purchasing a NFA item from another class 3 dealer.
